Jochebed airede
Growth Officer
Jochebed graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey with a triple major in English, French and Gender Studies. As a spoken word poet and published creative writer, Jochebed is excited to use her storytelling skills to get Lafiya the support it needs to continue making the impact it has been.
As a student, Jochebed worked as a campus journalist, covering stories on student mental health in her university community and women's rights. After graduation, she was a Newsroom Leadership Intern at WHYY, the the leading public media organisation in the Philadelphia Region and Greater Philly's NPR Station. In addition to covering stories about neglected cities and their triumph in spite of grave challenges, Jochebed provided vital, on-the-ground support for multiple community events, including a training for NPR reporters from across the United States and a Civic Dialogue conference.
After her return to Nigeria, she excelled as a Communications Assistant at Narrative Landscape Press, one of Nigeria’s leading publishing houses. She contributed to the successful execution of the Dream Count 2025 book tour, a celebration of the award-winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s return to fiction. Her creative and professional work has always focused on bringing human stories to the world.
She’s excited to continue doing just that at Lafiya.
