MARIAM SYLLA

Director of Country Expansion

Mariam Sylla is a public health practitioner with a background in Global MCH, Gender and SRHR. An Indiana University graduate, she holds a B.S in Health Services Management and an MPH with a concentration in Social and Behavioral Sciences.

She has experience working across international organizations, government institutions, universities, and local and community-based settings. Her professional experience includes work with EngenderHealth, HKI, UNICEF, UNFPA, UCPO, SUA and more.. Her work has spanned research, program design and implementation, operation and program management, and organizational development. She has also contributed to policy and intervention efforts at local and national levels, working alongside government stakeholders, academic institutions, implementing partners, and communities to translate evidence into meaningful action.

Her work is grounded in a strong commitment to community-centered approaches. She believes that data and lived experience are most powerful when they are brought together and that evidence can help us understand what is happening, while communities help us understand why it matters and what meaningful solutions can look like. She is particularly passionate about cocreating spaces where people are not simply participants in research and programs but co-creators and active contributors to the questions, solutions, and decisions that affect their lives.

Having lived, studied, and worked across different cultural and professional environments strengthened her ability to build relationships across sectors, navigate different contexts, and connect global priorities with local realities. She brings a multicultural and interdisciplinary perspective to her work and is passionate about bringing people, evidence, and systems together to develop solutions that are both grounded in data and responsive to the realities of the communities they are intended to serve.
